Hot cools faster than cold—this paradox has hit the quantum world. Physicists saw how excited nuclear spins relax quicker than barely perturbed ones. By themselves, no prodding needed. Future quantum computers might use this effect to flush errors in an instant.

🎯 The Mpemba effect is named after Tanzanian schoolboy Erasto Mpemba, who in 1963 noticed that hot milk froze faster than cold milk in a freezer. Today, scientists look for the effect not only in liquids but also in elementary particles.
