Sponge crystals can hide twisted sound waves—chiral phonons. If a dark matter particle flies through such a sponge, it makes the wave 'ring,' generating a tiny magnetic field. A sensor catches it, and for the first time we'll hear the invisible universe's whisper.

🎯 Porous sponge crystals are already at work in practice: they are used to capture carbon dioxide from the air and store hydrogen in the cars of the future.
