Light from distant galaxies is distorted, like a reflection in a funhouse mirror. This weak lensing helps us understand what drives the expansion of the universe: invisible dark energy or gravity itself working differently. New analysis shows that corrections to Newton’s law could explain the acceleration, and their allowable limits have been found.
