In the early universe, matter outnumbered antimatter by just one billionth. This tiny imbalance is why we exist. New work shows that gravity itself could have created it, if gravity is a bit more complex than Einstein thought. Perhaps our world is the result of a barely noticeable 'defect' in spacetime.
