Does hot water freeze faster? This mysterious effect took on new colors in the quantum world. Scientists showed that at temperatures close to absolute zero, hot turns into cold faster thanks to quantum leaps. And even the opposite – cold can overtake hot. Quantum magic of heat.

🎯 The effect is named after Tanzanian schoolboy Erasto Mpemba, who in 1963 noticed that hot ice cream mix freezes in the freezer faster than cold, and convinced physicists of this.
