Raman Sundrum

1964–настоящее время · theoretical physics, particle physics
Indian-American theoretical physicist, known for the warped extra dimensions model jointly developed with Lisa Randall. His work greatly influenced high-energy physics phenomenology, inspiring many experimental searches for signatures of extra dimensions at colliders and in cosmological observations.

Biography

Raman Sundrum was born in 1964 in India. He studied in India (IIT Kanpur) and then in the USA (Yale University). He worked at Boston University, Johns Hopkins University, and is now a professor at the University of Maryland. In addition to the Randall–Sundrum model, he contributed to technicolor theory and composite Higgs models.

Key discoveries

💡 The name 'Randall–Sundrum' is sometimes shortened to RS model, and physicists joke about 'brane worlds' in the style of science-fiction parallel universes.
