To precisely replicate the behavior of 50 quantum particles on a regular computer, you’d need memory heavier than the Earth. Engineers find loopholes: they simplify the calculations so much that the simulation becomes possible on an ordinary laptop. This accelerates the path to real quantum technologies that will transform drug discovery and code-breaking.
