Superconductors are usually destroyed by a magnetic field. But physicists found a loophole: if you make a PdTe₂ film thinner than 50 nanometers, the field it withstands soars 13-fold! Quantum effects alter electron behavior, opening the door to superconducting devices in strong magnetic fields.
