Quantum Clamp: Film Thickness Rewrites the Pauli Limit
A magnetic field of 8 tesla is 200 times stronger than Earth's field. Under such a field, superconductivity in a thin film of palladium ditelluride not only survives but persists down to 20 millikelvin, which is a hundred times colder than outer space. For comparison, a thick film of the same material has a critical field 80 times smaller.

A Superconductor That Remembers
Ordinary computer memory constantly uses energy to store ones and zeros. Superconductors, on the other hand, carry current with zero loss — if you could build memory from them, it would barely draw any power. The catch is that superconductors can't remember: their state changes too easily. Uranium ditelluride crystals turned out to be the exception.
