Relic neutrinos — the echo of the Big Bang — turned out to be a bit colder than we thought. Tiny clumps in the early universe, as they smoothed out, took away some of their energy. Now we're waiting for the PTOLEMY detector: its ultra-precise measurements could, for the first time, unveil the secrets of the infant universe.
