Peter Zoller

Austrian theoretical physicist, one of the fathers of quantum computing. Together with Ignacio Cirac, he proposed the first realistic scheme for a two-qubit gate on trapped ions (Cirac–Zoller gate). His works cover quantum optics, quantum simulation, and quantum networks, becoming a cornerstone of modern quantum technologies.

Biography

He studied physics at the University of Innsbruck, where he currently works. He had internships at Harvard and MIT. He is the founder of the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information in Innsbruck. He is a winner of the Wolf Prize in Physics (2013), the Planck Medal, and other awards. He is a member of many academies.
