Time crystals are eternally 'ticking' quantum clocks without mechanisms. And now scientists have created a double clock: by combining two types of time crystals, they obtained a new, hierarchical rhythm. It turned out one half starts pulsing by rules that weren't originally there. Like a third part suddenly emerging in an orchestra.
