Black hole pairs merge differently: some like a waltz, others like disco. Astronomers have found three groups of these dancers. This means black holes are born and live by different scenarios. The different merger styles are a key to the history of stars and galaxies.

🎯 The lightest component of a binary black hole ever found weighed only about three solar masses, while the heaviest nearly a hundred. Their dance generates energy comparable to hundreds of supernovae in a split second.
