For the first time, astronomers have directly observed the radiation that cleared the cosmic fog after the Big Bang.

Light from baby galaxies captured for the first time. It turned out to be many times more powerful than thought: ultraviolet pierced the fog of the young Universe, kicking off its transformation from dark and cold to transparent and hot. Now it's clear: the first stars were true giants.

🎯 The most energetic photons had energies above 24.6 electron volts—enough to strip electrons even from helium. Previously, this was thought to have happened much later.

🎬 In the series "Firefly," the ship "Serenity" flies through worlds aglow with the light of many suns. Astronomers, however, have captured that ancient light that ignited those suns.
