The density of gas in cosmic voids has been measured for the first time.

The vast voids between galaxies were long thought to be completely empty. But fast radio bursts helped 'weigh' them: inside, a thin gas was found—one and a half times less than in surrounding regions. This means voids can tell us about dark energy and neutrinos more accurately than we thought.
🎯 If the Milky Way were at the center of such a void, the night sky would be absolutely black—no galaxies at all, only a few faint stars.
