At the center of nearly every large galaxy sleeps a giant black hole. Sometimes it awakens and blows plasma bubbles as large as the galaxy itself. New simulations show that these bubbles are shaped by narrow jets, like a blowtorch flame in oil. By understanding their shape, we can predict how black holes govern the birth and death of entire star systems.

🎯 The energy of these bubbles rivals the combined radiation of hundreds of millions of stars, yet it all comes from a region no larger than the Solar System.
