Proton and boron are like two stubborn magnets pushing each other away. But if you stick a tiny ‘bodyguard’—the muon—to the proton, it hugs the proton so tightly that its field softens, and the boron can come closer. This way, you can ignite a clean fusion fire without radioactive waste.
