Doomed neutron stars play a farewell symphony of gamma rays and radio waves — a warning minutes before merging.

Before their fateful merger, two neutron stars cry out with gamma rays and radio pulses. Scientists simulated this moment and discovered: such signals — harbingers of the cataclysm — can be caught minutes beforehand. This is perhaps how the mysterious fast radio bursts are born.

🎯 It turns out that fast radio bursts, which have baffled astronomers for decades, may be born precisely from the magnetic 'strings' between merging neutron stars.
