The telescope listened to 70,000 stars — silence. All hundred million 'suspicious' signals turned out to be our own interference. If alien transmitters were powerful searchlights, we'd have spotted them. But no: only six stars out of a hundred thousand could have such a 'cosmic loudspeaker'. It seems the galactic airwaves are silent.
