The light from blazars and gamma-ray bursts fades following the same law — astrophysicists have found a common mechanism behind these cosmic beacons.

The blazar 'spotlight' and the gamma-ray burst 'lightning' are utterly different cosmic phenomena. But their light obeys the same law of rapid electron cooling. That means the energy dynamics of all jets in the universe work the same way — from giant black holes to neutron stars.

🎯 A typical gamma-ray burst releases as much energy in a few seconds as our Sun will emit over its entire 10-billion-year lifetime.
