Stars, like meticulous chefs, mix the ingredients of the galactic broth. But sometimes they toss whole planets into the dish. Astrophysicists found that only 3–9% of Sun-like stars indulge in planetary cannibalism. Our Sun is a conscientious cook; its recipe is dictated by the Galaxy itself. This modesty allows planets like Earth to exist.
