Israeli theoretical physicist, one of the founders of quantum information theory. Developed the Peres-Horodecki criterion for detecting entanglement. Made important contributions to quantum teleportation, quantum measurement, and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

Biography

Born in France. Studied at the Technion (Haifa), where he worked as a professor all his life. Was a close colleague of David Bohm and Charles Bennett. Wrote the classic textbook 'Quantum Theory: Concepts and Methods'. Member of the New York Academy of Sciences.

Key discoveries

Peres criterion (1996)
which became the basis for measuring entanglement
contributions to quantum teleportation and quantum computing
research on quantum chaos and measurements.
