British-Polish physicist, one of the founders of quantum cryptography. Developed the E91 (Ekert) protocol, using entangled photon pairs for secure key distribution. His work combined Bell's concepts and quantum information, proving that quantum mechanics can guarantee security.

Biography

Studied physics at Jagiellonian University and Oxford, where he received his PhD. Worked at Oxford, then founded the Centre for Quantum Technologies in Singapore. Laureate of the Descartes Prize and the Hughes Medal. Professor at Oxford University and visiting professor in Singapore.
