The James Webb telescope has for the first time captured light from stars composed only of hydrogen and helium — the first stars in the Universe. They were found through a cosmic magnifying glass — a cluster of galaxies that amplified the faint light of the distant past. This discovery confirms how pioneer stars were born within dark halos of invisible matter.

🎯 The gas temperature in the 'cradles' of these stars was lower than in a pizza oven — just about a thousand degrees, which by cosmic standards is very cold.
