Hydrogen and rock deep inside a planet, under pressure, create water — up to 10% of the mass. Previously, we thought water on such planets came only from comets or migration. Now it’s clear: a planet can make its own ocean without moving an inch. This discovery challenges old assumptions about where to look for life.

🎯 One kilogram of silicate magma, after reacting with hydrogen, can yield up to 100 grams of water — that’s nearly half a cup of liquid born right in the planet’s interior.
