Physicists tested the hypothesis of microscopic 'straws' between particles using ultra-precise measurements of hydrogen's neutrality.

Two water droplets oscillate in sync on opposite shores — perhaps an invisible straw connects them. It's the same with entangled particles: if a quantum wormhole links them, it changes the hydrogen atom's 'radio voice'. Precise measurements don't let wormholes hide.
