Light always rushes, but even it has to slow down near massive bodies. Until now, this effect was only captured in space. Now scientists have found a way to trap it on a lab bench—using a laser and fiber-optic rings. If the experiment succeeds, we can check just how smooth the fabric of space is without leaving the room.

🎯 The strongest Shapiro effect from our star: a signal to Venus and back is delayed by about 200 microseconds due to the Sun's gravity.
