The collision of neutron stars is a gravitational orchestra, where each instrument is a property of ultra-dense matter. A new simulation has learned to "hear" temperature in it and cut errors by a factor of 10. It turns out that the main note after the impact shifts by 150 Hz depending on the star's inner recipe. Future detectors will be able to use this sound to figure out what the insides of such stars are made of.
