Scientists turned an empty cavity into a programmable quantum instrument. By trading energy with an artificial atom, the light inside learned to carry out any command — like an orchestra where a lone conductor sets the rhythm for an entire symphony. This is a step towards new kinds of quantum processors that could outpace classical computers.
