The Webb Space Telescope captured for the first time how a scorching planet's rotation reshapes its atmosphere right during an eclipse.

Planet WASP-121 b always faces its star with one side, but when it transits the star, the Webb telescope sees heat moving across its surface: the eastern side turns out hotter than the western. This finding could help predict weather on other worlds.

🎯 Strong winds carry heat from the hottest point eastward, so the eastern side is always hotter than the western — as if the planet is constantly blow-dried by a giant hairdryer.
