A crystal has been discovered that turns into a giant 'electrical spring.' A magnetic field and a weak current set off swirling electron flows inside it—flows that refuse to stop and unleash a powerful voltage spike. No coils or superconductors needed: this built-in inductance could make quantum circuits far more compact.
