Classical light can mimic quantum wonders if you cleverly filter out some data. Negative values of the Wigner function, long considered a hallmark of quantumness, turned out to be achievable in a simple model with event selection. This questions the reliability of conventional tests.

🎯 In 1932, Eugene Wigner devised a way to describe quantum particles using the language of probabilities, but with a catch: negative values in his formula are not real probabilities, but a calculational trick. That's why the distribution is called a 'quasi-distribution'.
