An ultracold atomic cloud behaves differently if gravity changes over large distances.

A quantum fog of ultracold atoms stretches more under special gravity. In the lab, they recreated MOND—an alternative to dark matter for galaxy rotation. The stronger the repulsion between atoms, the larger and slower the fog. Soon, the mysteries of the Universe might be tested on a physicist's table.

🎯 The temperature of such a fog is one of the lowest in the Universe: billions of times colder than deep space.
