Inside a fragment of a Martian meteorite, water was found hidden in rust. Neutron 'vision' revealed that ancient rocks are packed with hydrogen-bearing minerals. The Perseverance rover is seeing the same thing now. It seems early Mars was wrapped in a damp stone blanket—water was hiding right underfoot.
