Scientists have built a source of entangled light particles into a fingernail-sized chip powered by a regular battery.

Flip a coin, and it lands heads or tails. But photons work differently: measuring one instantly decides the other’s state, no matter where it is. This new chip generates billions of such pairs per second, speeding up the creation of secure quantum networks.
