Disorder, which usually spoils everything, can in the quantum world extend the life of fragile information. Scientists found a way to tame chaos and create long-lived memory cells. Quantum memories are becoming reality.

🎯 At room temperature, such quantum states decay in milliseconds, but in the described experiment, the lifetime grew hundreds of times longer thanks to isolated 'pockets' in the crystal.
