On the afternoon of April 24, 2025, a bright meteor flew over Alaska. It was heard by dozens of seismic and acoustic sensors—and from the vibrations of the ground and air, scientists reconstructed the path of the rock from space. This is how ground-based networks help monitor the sky, even where satellites are hindered by the polar day.

🎯 The meteor left a whopping 30 shockwaves—like throwing one stone into water sends out dozens of ripples, but here the ripples also traveled through the earth's depths.
