The second interstellar guest, comet 3I/ATLAS, shines because of rust. Inside, water corrodes metal grains, kicking off a chemical factory in space. Hydrocarbons are born, and the tail becomes unusual. This "tin can" helps us understand how distant icy worlds are built.
