The James Webb Telescope found a third giant planet in the β Pictoris system, hidden in a bright disk of dust. It was fished out not by snapshot, but by spectrum: methane, water, and carbon monoxide gave the invisible world away. The new method will allow hunting for planets even in the 'noisiest' cosmic environments.

🎯 A year on β Pic d lasts at least a century and a half: the planet is so distant that a single orbit takes over 100 Earth years.
