JWST peered 7.6 billion years back and spotted a galaxy with an already mature X-shaped bulge—as if the cosmic potter worked in fast-forward. Such structures usually take eons, but here it’s a rapid dash. Textbooks will need a rewrite: galaxies grow up far earlier than we thought.
