In the fiery river of an accretion disk, blanets are born. The stream carries them toward the black hole, where tidal forces tear them apart. A flare outshines a galaxy for a few days. We have not yet witnessed a single such death, but next-generation telescopes will soon hear the echo of these cataclysms and, perhaps, decipher the dance of spacetime.
