Astronomers have figured out why giant planets spin much faster than more massive brown dwarfs.

Giant planets spin almost at the breakup limit, while brown dwarfs are many times slower. Astronomers discovered it's all about a weak 'disk brake' at birth. Planets were barely hindered from spinning up. This changes how we view the youth of planetary systems.
