How to Average a Signal Without Extra Twists
Every time an MRI scanner measures water movement in tissues, it sends a magnetic pulse in a specific direction. One pulse gives one data point. To understand how water moves in all directions at once, you need many such pulses with different rotations. Previously, rotations were chosen almost at random, just to cover all directions evenly.

Water Exchange in Tumors: What MRI Can Reveal
Imagine a water park with many pools connected by narrow passages. Visitors, water molecules, splash around in each pool, but occasionally move to the next one. In a brain tumor, these "passages" are protein channels in cell membranes. Their abundance determines how quickly water moves between cells.
