Thousands of Dim Stars Found by the Crowd
There are faint points in the sky that slowly crawl among the stars. They are cooler than embers in a fireplace and smaller than the Sun: these are brown dwarfs. There are so many of them that astronomers can't keep up with reviewing all the images. That's when volunteers stepped in: ordinary people examined pictures from the telescope and flagged moving objects.

A Cosmic Dance of a White Dwarf and a Brown Dwarf
The James Webb Space Telescope has peered into a strange binary world. Here, a dead star, a white dwarf, slowly roasts its companion, a brown dwarf. The object, named ZTFJ0038+2030, completes a full orbit in just a few hours. One side of the brown dwarf always faces the white dwarf, much like the Moon faces Earth.
