Crystals that absorb light backward
Superfluorescence is a crystal’s synchronized exhale of light. Researchers just witnessed its mirror image: superabsorption, a coordinated inhale. They zapped cheap perovskite nanocrystals with laser pulses (spectroscopy) and saw a time-reversed absorption burst.

Light Spins Up the Spins
A beam of circularly polarized light hits a MAPbI3 perovskite crystal. The electrons inside start behaving like tiny spinning tops, their axes aligning along the beam. This phenomenon is known as optical spin orientation.
