Our universe isn't just expanding—it's operating like a gigantic heat engine, much like a steam engine. Scientists investigated its 'work cycles' and found that this cosmic machine's efficiency never surpasses the ideal limit. The intriguing question: could the universe one day 'stall'?

The idea of a expanding universe, proposed by Georges Lemaître, finds an unexpected analogy. Space behaves like a piston in a cylinder: dark energy pushes it, much like steam. The relationship between pressure and volume in this 'engine' is strikingly similar to that of a steam boiler.
