New Schedule for Faraway Worlds
A bus schedule drifts: if you don't check it, you'll miss your ride. Planets around other stars have the same problem – their crossings of the star's disk gradually shift. The ExoClock project pooled 30,000 observations from Earth and space to refine the schedule for 620 distant worlds. For 45% of the planets, transits were found to be off by hours.

The Milky Way Symphony: Why Star Clocks Tick at Different Speeds
A star's age is the key to the galaxy's history. But prying that key from nature is no simple task: unlike a tree, a star doesn't grow annual rings. Yet, its atmosphere holds a chemical code — the ratio of elements that slowly shifted as generations of stars died and new ones were born.

The supernova that forged too much sulfur
In the cosmic forge, stars do not melt iron but atomic nuclei. An ordinary furnace can do that, but sometimes the heat becomes so intense that the furnace blows itself apart. That seems to be exactly what happened with supernova SN 2024afyu. Its spectrum shows sulfur and silicon lines that leave no doubt: several solar masses of these elements were forged inside.
