The Kitchen of Interstellar Carbon
In cold clouds of interstellar gas, carbon hides inside carbon monoxide (CO) molecules, like sugar dissolved in tea. But near hot, massive stars, this 'tea' boils: harsh radiation tears the molecules apart, and carbon escapes as lone atoms or ions.

Liquid metal prints fast transistors
An ordinary transistor in a phone is made in a vacuum chamber, where atoms are deposited layer by layer. Expensive and slow. But indium oxide can be printed like ink — from a drop of liquid metal that, in air, coats itself with a thin oxide film. The authors took indium, melted it, and rolled it over a substrate at 250 degrees.

Bubbles in a Superfluid
In a pot of boiling water, steam bubbles rise and pop. In the quantum world of a superfluid, bubbles behave differently: they can collide and give birth to vortices — tiny swirling flows, like whirlpools in a river. Scientists modeled such a liquid using a holographic approach.
