In 2021, the Arid meteor shower (IAU#1130 ARD) was recorded for the first time using a public YouTube camera mounted on the dome of the Subaru Telescope (Mauna Kea, Hawaii) with a 70x40-degree field of view and sensitivity better than magnitude 6. The detection was carried out by citizen observers and confirmed automatically. The number of meteors from the radiant area increased more than sixfold (~9σ) compared to neighboring days; observations made 4–5 hours after the peak (solar longitude 193.9°) showed that activity had not yet subsided. The meteors were mostly slow and faint, but bright ones with trains were also noted. Modeling of dust trails from comet 15P/Finlay suggests that the source could be ejections from either 2008 or 2014; however, the comet was quiet in 2008, while powerful outbursts were observed in 2014. The likely source is dust ejected in 2014 at a speed of ~67 m/s. The uniqueness of observations from the Northern Hemisphere highlights the value of this method.
