British theoretical physicist who predicted the existence of the elementary particle — the Higgs boson, responsible for the mechanism of spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking. The experimental discovery of the boson at the Large Hadron Collider in 2012 confirmed his theory.

Biography

Studied at King's College London. Worked at the University of Edinburgh. Nobel Prize in Physics (2013) jointly with François Englert.
